WHO REPRODUCED THIS PATTERN?
One of the most recognized companies for this reproduction is the L.G. Wright Glass Co., who produced this pattern for a number of years throughout the late Depression Era until the companies recent closure. It is believed beginning circa 1970 that all of the Opalescent pieces were made by the Fenton Glass Company. Records show that Fenton Art Glass Co. had an ongoing relationship with L.G. Wright for any pieces that are coloured with the Opalescent trim. Most recently, collectors have seen pieces in a Vaseline Opalescent which is known to be made by the Summit Art Glass Company, within the past 10 years. We have yet to see a piece of Moon & Star signed by it's maker. |
- Reproductions are thicker and much heavier in weight. They lack crispness in the moon, the star, and the cut band around the moon.
- Often reproductions look blurry and not proportioned properly. This is most noticeable in the stem, which is heavier, thicker and sometimes appearing short and fat. The original stem is nicely defined.
- All coloured pieces in moon and star are reproductions, as the originals were never made in colour.
